Fans speculated that The Boys season 5 would begin filming this week after star Laz Alonso shared a photo of the cast reuniting for dinner on his Instagram page, and showrunner Eric Kripke has now confirmed that cameras are rolling on the Prime Video show’s final batch of episodes. Kripke also posted the first page of the Episode 1 script to social media, revealing the title: “Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite.” Earlier this year, while speaking to TV Guide about his plans for the final season, Kripke was asked if he’s decided who will survive and who will undoubtedly meet a messy end. “Whoever dies in Season 5 will be very well deserved,” he said.
“We have a sense of who lives and who dies, but we haven’t decided everything yet. But you can do the final season of a show and go out on your own terms, so not everyone will make it.” Potential spoilers follow. In the comics, pretty much every major character save Hughie and Starlight dies, with Billy Butcher eventually becoming a full-blown villain and wiping out most of his team. However, the Prime Video series has never been a particularly faithful adaptation, so we can’t assume Kripke is that ruthless. Butcher indeed embraced his darker side in the season four finale, but if he were to be eliminated — and we’d say both he and Homelander were eliminated — there’s bound to be some redemption.
The Boys Season 4 Plot
In season four, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the control of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Billy Butcher, who has only months to live, has lost both Becca’s son and his role as the leader of The Boys. The rest of the team is fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they must find a way to work together to save the world before it’s too late. The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and Cameron Crovetti.
Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are also joining the fourth season. The Boys is based on the New York Times bestselling comic book created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers, and developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke. The Boys is produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Original Fil,m and Point Grey Pictures. It is available on Prime Video.
