We were led to believe that Dexter Morgan's story had reached a definitive conclusion when the serial killer was shot and killed by his son in Dexter: New Blood. However, a newly released trailer for the upcoming prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, reveals that he at least makes it to the hospital. With this, it looks like we're one step closer to another sequel series; original plans called for a spinoff centered on Harrison Morgan before Showtime's focus shifted to exploring Dexter's early years.
Patrick Gibson takes on the role of the titular character to explore Dexter's origin story, although Michael C. Hall will be there as the narrator and "inner voice" of his most famous role. This trailer also indicates that we're picking up Dexter in the present day. It's a little strange to watch this trailer and see younger versions of so many familiar faces. However, Dexter ended way back in 2013, so enough time has passed for several actors to embrace these characters.
