Phil Dunster, best known for his role as Jamie Tartt on Ted Lasso, is joining Steve Carell in the new HBO comedy series, created by Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses. The untitled series has received a 10-episode order and is set on a college campus. The plot revolves around an author's complex relationship with his daughter, although the specific details of Dunster's character are still shrouded in mystery. This series marks Lawrence's second collaboration with a Ted Lasso star following the success of Shrinking
Dunster, who received an Emmy nomination in 2023 for his role in Ted Lasso, is a familiar face on television. In addition to his iconic performance in the Apple TV+ series, he has also starred in The Devil’s Hour, Strike Back, and Humans, as well as appearing in films such as Murder on the Orient Express and The Good Liar. The series starring the Ted Lasso actor, which is a comedy, will have Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses as executive producers. Carell, in addition to playing one of the lead roles, will also serve as an executive producer.
The first episode was written by the two creators, who have long collaborated in the world of television, with Warner Bros. Television backing the project. This series marks Lawrence’s second collaboration with a Ted Lasso star following the success of Shrinking, another Apple TV+ project that saw Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent, team up.
