In the penultimate episode of Agatha All Along, Agatha Harkness, Billy Maximoff and Jennifer Kale reach the end of the Witches' Road. The latter regains her powers, while Billy - who unknowingly created the Road with his Scarlet Witch powers - manages to find a new body for Tommy Maximoff. He does so, of course, with Agatha's help, but is horrified by the prospect that his spell may have killed the boy whose body now contains Tommy's soul. Either way, Billy hasn't found his twin an ideal home.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer has now discussed Tommy's resurrection and how it could be revisited in future stories. “The intention is that, yeah, he got what he was missing in the sense that he got Tommy’s soul into the body of this young man who was the victim of a teenage prank,” he explained. “You know how these things go, and we’ll see in future properties if they stick to that narrative.”

“We liked the idea of Agatha fully embracing her mentor role, in her evil, evil way, and helping Billy tap into one of his greatest powers: bringing his brother back. That was a difficult thing to shoot because Tommy hadn’t been cast at the time, so we had to shoot it darkly.” Asked if that means Tommy has been cast now, Schaeffer added: “I don’t know anything. I literally don’t know anything. At the time of shooting Agatha All Along, there was no Tommy.”

Showing Tommy returning from the dead without an actor was no easy feat, and Schaeffer credits director Gandja Monteiro and cinematographer Isiah Donte Lee for finding a way to capture the scene on screen anyway. “Everyone in the writers room loved that something was terrifying, that it was a love thing that Billy did, but Agatha was all nails and evil,” she said.

It remains to be seen when and where the story of Agatha, Billy, and Tommy will continue, but the WandaVision and Agatha All Along showrunner says she’s in the dark. “I can’t speak to the transition to the Vision series,” Schaeffer said, “but I think people should expect more of Billy and Agatha somewhere in the MCU. I don’t know what’s going on with that show, and I just wish them the best. I have a deep love for Paul Bettany, and I can’t wait to see what they do.”
