Agatha All Along takes us back to the town of Westview. This is where the first Disney+ series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, WandaVision, took place, and Agatha All Along picks up right where it left off. WandaVision unfolded as a mystery story full of twists and turns, using ever-evolving television styles inspired by sitcoms of various eras. At the center of this enigma was Wanda Maximoff, who seemed to have, at least partially, control over the ever-changing television reality of Westview. It was soon discovered that Wanda had used Chaos Magic to transform Westview and its inhabitants into the ideal world she desired.

[SPOILERS FOLLOW!]

Wanda’s actions were exposed by the witch Agatha Harkness, who had been posing as her nosy neighbor, Agnes, in hopes of seizing her power. Agatha later discovered that Wanda was the legendary Scarlet Witch, destined to destroy the world. Wanda defeats Agatha, condemning her to live the rest of her life trapped in the identity of Agnes. However, after losing control of Westview, Wanda took a dark path, embracing the power of the Scarlet Witch and the sinister magical tome, the Darkhold. Finally, realizing the error of her ways, Wanda seemingly sacrificed herself to destroy the Darkhold. Agatha All Along finally confirms Wanda’s fate in the MCU.

Agatha All Along confirms Scarlet Witch's death in Doctor Strange 2

After WandaVision, Wanda reappeared in the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, corrupted by the influence of the Darkhold. She was trying to navigate the Multiverse to find a reality where the children she had created with Chaos Magic in Westview – Billy and Tommy – still existed. Wanda wanted to use America Chavez's powers of dimension travel to achieve her goal and had even prepared to kill an alternate version of herself to take her place.

Eventually, when Wanda managed to enter a universe where her children were still alive, her appearance as Scarlet Witch and the brutality she had shown terrified the children. Once she came to terms with her terrible actions, Wanda vowed to destroy every copy of the Darkhold, causing the Darkhold Castle on Mount Wundagore to collapse on her. Apparently, that was the end of Scarlet Witch, although her body was never shown, fueling fan theories.

The first episode of Agatha All Along, Seekest Thou The Road, opens with the revelation that Wanda had trapped Agatha Harkness in some TV-themed illusions, similar to those she had created throughout Westview. Fascinated by crime dramas, Agatha — under the name Agnes O’Connor — finds herself playing the role of a police detective. The first case she investigates involves the body of a woman who appears to have been crushed to death by something large and heavy. Agnes’s neighbor Herb describes the victim as “very dead.”

As Agnes’s illusion begins to crumble, it becomes clear that the corpse she sees in her distorted reality is a representation of Wanda Maximoff. A note from a library book, Dialogue, and Rhetoric: Known History of Learning and Debate by Andrew Ugo, is found on the body. As Agnes realizes, the first letter of every word in the book’s title spells out the word “Darkhold.” Additionally, the book’s author, Andrew Ugo, is an anagram of Wundagore, the mountain where the Darkhold was created. Wanda’s death appears to be the cause of Agatha’s reality shift into a crime drama, confirming that Wanda Maximoff is indeed dead in the MCU.
